April is Child Abuse Prevention Month. To encourage conversations about childhood well-being and build awareness of the community resources available for ensuring safe, healthy childhoods for all, EveryChild is leading a variety of events, activities, and community trainings throughout the month.

Human services leader Nicole Mann has been named Executive Director of EveryChild. Throughout her career, Mann’s work has been focused on providing services that address the needs of vulnerable children and families in the Quad Cities region.

Rock Island County CASA is seeking volunteer advocates for their program. A Court Appointed Special Advocate (CASA) is an everyday citizen, specially trained to advocate for the best interests and safety of children involved in the foster care system.

This year, with support from Scott County Regional Authority, UnityPoint Health/Trinity Health Foundation, and St. Vincent's Home Foundation, we are pleased to welcome Tonier Cain to our community! EveryChild, the nonprofit formerly known as the Child Abuse Council, is expanding its mental health training for teachers this year, part of its proactive efforts to reach more children, families, and early childhood educators.

While the COVID-19 pandemic accelerated the use of digital tools at human services nonprofits across the country, few are making such forward-looking investments in technology as EveryChild in the Quad Cities. The organization, which leads community efforts to give every child the foundation for a safe, healthy childhood, has developed an innovative new virtual reality (VR) training for the family support specialists and community doulas who make home visits through its Healthy Families program.

EveryChild is bringing new mental health and medical services to children and families in Muscatine and the surrounding southeast Iowa counties through its Mississippi Valley Child Protection Center.
