Six resolutions all caregivers should make for 2015
We know that you want to lose 50 pounds, pay off your credit card bills, and write a best-selling novel this year.
But in your spare time, we want 2015 to be the year you become the best caregiver you can be.
It's not rocket science. It's not impossible.
Here are six (parenting) resolutions we recommend for the new year.
1. Give yourself a break.
Don't judge your own parenting by what you see on Facebook. (Your Facebook friends only share their best moments, anyhow.) Instead, allow yourself to be you. Forgive yourself when you make mistakes. Doing this will make you a better parent than Facebook could ever teach you to be.
2. Slow down.
When you take your time, you can do a better job of meeting your child's needs. Read more about how to make time for the rocking chair.
Life can be a whirlwind. And as a caregiver, you have many responsibilities. But, this year, resolve to be curious about your child. By listening to what your little one is telling you, you can truly be a better parent.
4. Commit to support other parents.
Just a kind word can make a world of difference to other caregivers. So, give kind words this year to those around you.
5. Find a tribe.
We know that having a support system can make you a better parent. So, set out to build and nurture your own tribe in 2015.
6. Accept help.
In addition to your tribe, make a point to take advantage of local resources this year. (Check out a list of a few favorites here.)
