Multi-Disciplinary
Team:
The Diagnostic
Assessment Program utilizes a multi-disciplinary team
approach. The term
multi-disciplinary refers to the
various disciplines represented:
child welfare, law enforcement,
education, medical, social
service, religious, legal/court,
mental health, etc.
Sexual
Abuse Treatment Program:
The
Sexual Abuse Treatment Program (SATP) is specifically designed
to provide therapy to families
in which incestuous sexual abuse
has occurred. Its purpose is to
assist the individual members of
the family and the family, as a
whole, to understand their
behavior and to change the
atmosphere and dynamics of their
family life in order to provide
nurturance, growth,
self-direction, and protection
to the family members. Specific
goals are:
- to prevent
reoccurrence of intra-familial
sexual abuse
- to improve the
functioning of the family unit
- to reunite or maintain
the family as unit, whenever appropriate
The program offers
several types of group therapy
for victims, siblings,
perpetrators, non-perpetrators,
and parents after initial
assessment and individual
therapy. The program is based on
a treatment and intervention
model developed by Dr. Henry Giaretto.
