6 favorite (and free) holiday activities in the QC

The Quad Cities area is practically buzzing (or caroling) with holiday spirit.

 

There are wonderful events going on every weekend between now and Dec. 25. These are wonderful opportunities for your family to spend a holly jolly time together and create traditions.

 

So fa-la-la to a few of these local events and activities. They are full of great activites for the young and old. And the best part - they are all free! (Becuase now's the time to save for those presents under the tree.)

 

Figge's Family FREE Day

Figge Art Museum, Davenport

Saturday, Nov. 21, All Day

 

Enjoy cookies and hot chocolate while decorating ornaments. They will be displayed on the Figge’s trees or can be taken home as a special memento.

 

Lighting on the Commons

John Deere Commons, Moline

Saturday, Nov. 21, 3:30 p.m. (activities) 6 p.m. (official lighting)

 

Don't miss this kickoff to the holiday season in downtown Moline. In addition to the lights and fireworks, you can enjoy a kids craft area, Santa meet-and-greet, tractor rides and refreshments.

 

Village Christmas Walk

Village of East Davenport, Davenport

Friday and Saturday, Dec. 4-5 , 6 to 9 p.m.

 

Visit Santa Claus, check out the petting zoo and enjoy crafting and face painting. Don't miss the fireworks at 9 p.m. on Saturday night.

 

Hometown Holiday

2nd Street, Eldridge

Friday, Dec. 4, 5:30-7:30 p.m.

 

Visit Santa, make s’mores, call the North Pole, write a letter to Santa, watch the sky lanterns, carriage rides, carolers and more.

 

Christmas Walk

Downtown, Geneseo

Saturday, Dec. 12, All Day

 

Don't miss the live window displays, roasted chestnuts, lighted Christmas parade and other fun holiday activities.

 

Elf Training Academy

LeClaire Library, LeClaire

Tuesday, Dec. 15, 6:30 p.m.

 

Train to be one of Santa's elves with holiday games and crafts. 

The holiday season can be stressful and expensive for families.
