In the United States, 794,000 children were confirmed victims of abuse or neglect.
10.06 out of every 1,000 children were victims of confirmed abuse.
Confirmed child abuse and neglect cases involved:
59% neglect, including medical neglect
10.8% physical abuse
7.6% sexual abuse
13.1% multiple types of abuse
4.2% other forms of abuse
An estimated 1,760 children died due to child abuse/neglect. (A 15% increase over 2006). 75% of those children were age 4 and under.
