Child Abuse Council has been closely monitoring the evolving situation with COVID-19, staying in contact with local health professionals and collaborating with other state and local community leaders. As a result of the guidance we've received over the last few days and out of an abundance of caution, the Child Abuse Council offices will be closed through the end of March. We will continue to reassess the situation regarding a safe return to regularly scheduled programs and events.
All of our staff will continue to work remotely during this time to ensure the needs of our clients and programming are being met. What this means for the community is - we are still available - we will just need to reschedule in-person appointments/trainings for a later date or replace them using other mediums, such as video-conferencing or phone calls.
The health and safety of our participants and our staff is our highest priority, especially with many in the community we serve dealing with increased risks due to their vulnerability. We realize that during this time, families across our community will be facing increased stresses as they try to navigate through the many unknowns. This, unfortunately, will increase the risk of child abuse across our community and throughout the country. It is important during times of high stress that we come together as a community to ensure all families feel supported.
We will continue to monitor the situation and provide regular updates about when programs and in-person appointments will resume and, Child Abuse Council Staff will continue to be available for support.
