Boot Camp for New Dads is a workshop for new dads, by new dads,

This workshop provides the real deal on diapers, feedings, screaming babies and helping their mothers.

OUR GOALS:

  1. Prepare you for the challenges of fatherhood by getting you off to a good start being an active, involved father.

  2. Enchance3 your experience as a first time father and your formation of a parenting team with your baby's mom.

  3. Thrive, not just survive, the birth of your newborn.

OUR METHODS:

  • Practical, how-to-discussion.

  • Taught by veteran fathers of six-week to six month old babies.

  • Hands-on work with veteran's real babies.

  • No women over the age of one allowed.

SKILLS

DIAPERING:

When and how to check; finding the front at 2:00 am; make and female hygiene.

FEEDING:

What can be done to support breast-feeding; methods for introducing and using a bottle.

HANDLING:

Supporting the bay's neck; passing and receiving.

SLEEPING:

Living with a general lack of sleep; dad's role for the middle of the night feeding.

CRYING:

Understanding the meaning and types of cries; methods for soothing a crying baby.

TROUBLESHOOTING:

Using a checklist to sooth a crying baby; when to call the doctor.

SAFETY:

Car seat basics; baby-proofing the home; preventing Shaken Baby Syndrome.

MOTHERS:

Team tactics; helping them through the emotional roller coaster; methods for improving the relationship.

It's a great workshop developed and taught by experienced dada to help prepare first time fathers for the challenges of parenthood, and to get them off to a good start being active, involved fathers.
