How many times have you thought of someone that is special to you? And how many times have you wished you could do something more to let others know how special they are to you? Honorary or memorial gifts are a beautiful way to recognize someone significant in your life. The thought touches friends and family deeply by giving a gift with lasting meaning. These gifts to the Child Abuse Council are listed in our Issues newsletter and a card of recognition is mailed to the honoree or family of the person named in the memorial.

Please consider a gift:

  • in lieu of flowers

  • as a memorial to remember their life and the contributions they made to your life

  • to honor achievements made

  • to mark an anniversary, birthday or Mother's/Father's Day

  • the birth of a baby or adoption of a child

Child Abuse Council Mission & History

Child abuse is everyone's problem... Research shows that victims of child abuse grow up to have trouble in school, are more likely to suffer from substance and alcohol abuse and may suffer from depression and low self-esteem. These victims are more likely to become involved with the criminal justice system and are severaltimes more likely to continue the cycle of abuse by abusing their own children.

The Child Abuse Council is the community's coordinated response to the problem of child abuse and neglect. The Council was incorporated in 1977 in an effort to provide a high-quality community response to the increasing incidents of child abuse and neglect in the Quad Cities. Our mission is to prevent child abuse and neglect in this community.

We provide prevention, intervention and education services through an array of programs. Services are offered on both sides of the river and are provided at no cost to participants.
